In most games with bosses, taking out their health bar is generally enough to defeat them for good, but sometimes this isn’t the case.
Most bosses in video games stay down after players beat them, but there are some that don’t follow the rules and come back to fight with a harder task. Most of the time, this is done with a dramatic cutscene where the player character thinks the fight is already over.
For some players, facing a boss again with a new form or set of skills can be exciting and surprising, but for others, it can be a major roadblock to their progress. For players who had trouble with bosses in their first forms, they could go into the next fight with no way to fix themselves and be killed soon after. Here are some of the best bosses whose second parts are really cool.
Darth Vader – Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order
At the end of the main storyline in Jedi: Fallen Order, players face off against Trilla Suduri, the Second Sister, in a tough final fight. Trilla’s fighting style is complicated and aggressive. She never lets up on her attacks, and she can launch herself at the player with great speed to take them out. The main story comes to a rewarding end when you beat her in a tough fight, but players shouldn’t start cheering just yet.
As Trilla seems to be going back to the light, the famous and cruel Darth Vader comes up behind her and kills her with his scary breathing. The camera then moves around behind Cal Kestis while Darth Vader stands in front of him. The fact that Vader doesn’t have a life bar for this fight shows how strong he is. The fight doesn’t last long, though, because Vader is so much stronger than Cal and facing him after the game’s final boss is a jaw-dropping experience in co-op.
Malenia, Blade Of Miquella – Elden Ring
Without a question, Malenia is one of the hardest co-players in Elden Ring. With incredibly fast strikes that can heal her health and kill the player in a few hits. She is an enemy that players will want to get rid of as soon as possible. Those who study her moves and figure out how she attacks instead of just giving up will be surprised to find that getting rid of her huge health pool for the first time isn’t enough to kill her.
Malenia becomes the Goddess of Rot in an amazing cutscene. Players have to beat her when she’s at her best to win. Malenia’s second phase can seem hard to beat. Because she has even more attacks and a very powerful attack from Scarlet Aeonia.
Ganondorf – The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time
Many people think that Ocarina of Time is the best game ever, and its boss fights, which are usually won with special weapons found in the boss’s dungeon or domain, regularly deliver on their promise. Ganondorf is the game’s last boss. And players have to fight him in the last dungeon, which is the domain of Hyrule Castle. With a soundtrack that gets more intense as players climb to the top of the mountain to face him again, the buildup to the fight is amazing.
Ganon’s spells and weapons go back and forth with the players’ attacks until Ganon is finally brought to his knees. Then Hyrule Castle starts to fall apart, causing players to run away with Princess Zelda as things fall from above. After going down, it looks like the fight is over and Hyrule Castle is gone. Players are shocked when Ganon suddenly comes out of the rubble as Beast Ganon. Ganondorf’s Beast form is one of the best second phases ever, and it still holds up 24 years later. The final fight has a great soundtrack that goes along with it.
Isshin, The Sword Saint – Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
Many people already knew that Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is a very hard game. From the steep learning curve to the way you can block attacks with pinpoint accuracy, the combat can be learned quickly or the player will die trying. It is only natural for players to assume that Genichiro will be the game’s final boss. If they make it all the way to the end of the game in search of the Immortal Severance ending.
Sekiro is back in the fields where he lost his arm and started his journey. So it’s clear that this fight has more at stake. Genichiro stumbles back and calls his grandfather, The Sword Saint Isshin with the Mortal Blade, when players get his health bar to zero and execute a deathblow. In his prime, The Sword Saint is a monster. It takes three “death blows” to bring him down. In each phase, Isshin comes at the players with a new set of weapons and strikes that are harder to block. In this final battle, The Sword Saint even uses a gun. So it’s just as hard as it looks, and beating him for the first time feels like a huge accomplishment.
Radiance – Hollow Knight
After beating the Hollow Knight and going for the Dream No More ending. Players are taken to the Radiance’s dream, where they have to beat the Radiance right away. If the player doesn’t beat the Radiance, they will be sent back outside the Hollow Knight boss room and have to fight the boss again to get to the Radiance. With an impressive set of attacks and powers that can catch the player off guard quickly and the boss having 5 different stages, climbing to the top to land the final hit is the perfect way to end an amazing story.
Absolute Radiance is an upgraded version of Radiance that is stronger, has more health, and strikes much faster. Players who want an extra challenge should look for it. Absolute Radiance can be fought at the end of Godhome’s fifth and final pantheon. To finish it, players must beat 42 of Spacebar Clicker game’s bosses in a row, which is an impossible task since each run can take 45 minutes to an hour.
Sister Friede & Father Ariandel – Dark Souls 3
Sister Friede is one of the hardest bosses ever made for Dark Souls 3. Players are shocked to see her devastating show of power because she speaks softly and with coyness. Friede’s strikes are dangerous even when she is in her first phase. She moves across the ground almost quietly on her bare feet. And she can back-stab players with her scythe to catch them off guard. For those who are strong enough to beat her in this part. She falls over and seems to die from her wounds.
As Father Ariandel gets angry behind her, the flame he lets out revives her body. And she stands back up for her second part. With Friede’s cleverness and Ariandel’s uncontrollable rage. Players now have to fight both of them at the same time, which might seem like an uncertain battle. Since Ariandel is the weaker of the two bosses and their health bars are the same. Players should focus on Ariandel but still be careful around Friede and her strong skills. For those who beat the pair in this part, the battle is still not over. Dark pyromantic power gives Friede a boost, and the blackflame inside her brings her back to life. As Blackflame Friede, she is ready to fight again in her strongest form. Friede is definitely a force to be reckoned with. There are three very fun ways to fight her.
Jack Krauser – Resident Evil 4
After an intense chase in which the player follows Jack Krauser through a maze-like environment. The player must avoid traps and several attempts to attack him in order to get close enough to beat him. If players do enough damage during this ambush phase. Krauser moves away from the player, is beaten, and changes into a new form.
He gets sharp, tendril-like arms that he uses like swords to try to stab the player. He moves quickly and looks scary, so don’t underestimate him. Krauser’s “mutated” phase is a great example of a fight that builds up to a climactic moment and then ends in a way that fits the character.
