Heavy Armor (Bastion)
The Bastion’s Heavy Armor makes them the best front-line fighters in any
Starship Troopers: Extermination match, as befits their role as the first line of defense on the battlefield. This power gives Bastion much heavier padding and Armor Plates than other players, which greatly improves their defense compared to other players.
Given how dangerous Bugs can be co me up close and in large numbers, the Bastion’s ability to take damage while serving as a first line of defense while the rest of the team builds HQ can make it the ideal first line of defense. Of course, Heavy Armor’s defensive benefits can be harder to see if it doesn’t have any visual “flair” to show them off.
Jump Jet (Hunter)
In
Starship Troopers: Extermination, the Hunter is a forward-thinking DPS Class, so it’s not surprising that teams expect them to be the most ready for any co-op situation. Hunters can use their Jump Jet to get a cool jump boost that lets them get to almost any part of
Slope Game much faster than other ways.
Hunters can use the Jump Jet to get ore and gas to HQ faster, which is a nice feature. However, this ability is much more useful in battle. The Hunter, like a real DPS unit, can use their Jump Jet to attack and disengage Bugs much faster and use speed to make up for their average armor. But the time between jumps can make High Intensity Speed Training more appealing than the Jump Jet.
Siege Mode (Bastion)
In Starship Troopers: Extermination, defense is a big part of how the Bastion play, and Siege Mode is the best way to see how they fight. When Starship Trooper Bugs are too many, the Bastion can use Siege Mode to put up a small covering wall that makes their shields stronger and improves the stability of their weapons. This enables them to aim their Extermination guns more confidently behind a solid shield, which increases their potent durability.
Players can use Siege Mode for escort tasks and extraction, where units must focus on getting away from a Bug infestation. Even though players are at risk when they use Siege Mode in these situations, Bastions are the only Class with enough defense boosts to outlast Bugs in these situations.
Canister Slot (Operator)
To get the most out of Starship Troopers: Extermination’s base-building system, players must gather resources before building structures that keep the Bugs away. Even though most Classes can bring resources back to base, the Operator’s Canister Slot makes them a better choice for these gathering tasks.
With the Canister Slot, Operators get a special backpack that lets them carry a second Resource Canister. This doubles the amount of resources they can get during a fight. Canister Slot can be used in the right way to build bases much faster, giving the rest of the team more time to complete other task goals with their Extermination loadouts.
High Intensity Speed Training (Hunter)
Given that the Hunters are Assault Infantry, High Intensity Speed Training is a key part of their aggressive weaponry. High Intensity Speed Training is a passive that boosts the player’s sprint speed. It makes the Hunter the fastest Class when running.
This skill is a key part of the Hunter’s combat-focused strategy, especially when they need to move away from an enemy, go back to camp, or bring ore back to the base. Even though there are other ways to move in Starship Troopers: Extermination, running is used more often, so this ability is better than the Hunter’s Jump Jet.
Medical UAV (Operator)
When compared to other Classes in Starship Troopers: Extraction, the Operator’s toolkit makes it the most suited for help. This role is also emphasized by the Medical UAV, which is a special Operator ability that sends out a drone that can revive downed players nearby.
Even so, there are Utilities in all Extermination Classes, like the Heal Beacon and the First Aid Stim, that can heal and make everyone much more likely to survive. But the Operator with its Medical UAV becomes the best healer in a player’s squad, especially if they set their Utilities to include support-heavy items instead of the normal weapons that do damage.
Starship Troopers: Extermination came out for the PC in May of 2023. The game is in early access right now.
